Dublin, Leinster, Ireland
Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. It lies in the province of Leinster and has an urban area population of 1.17 million. The city was established by the Gaels around the 7th century AD. The name Dublin comes from the Irish word Dubhlinn, meaning ‘dark tidal pool’. The city has many landmarks and monuments worth visiting, dating back hundreds of years. One of the oldest is Dublin Castle, built in 1204. Big tourist attractions are the beautiful old cathedrals as well as the many Irish pubs. The city also built the Spire of Dublin, a monument that towers approximately 120 meters above the ground.
