Bangor is a town in Northern Ireland. It is located on the eastern coast and has a population of 61,011. The town is reliant on its tourism industry, and plans are being made to redevelop its seafront. The Bangor Marina is one of the largest in the entirety of Ireland and holds Blue Flag status. The town has a long history, dating back from Bangor Abbey, founded around the year 555. It was unfortunately destroyed by the Norman invasions in the 8th and 9th century but rebuilt in 1121. Another noteworthy historical sight is the Bangor Old Custom House, a 17th-century tower and adjoining tower house.
