Lisburn is a city in Northern Ireland, located 13 km southwest of Belfast. It is part of the Belfast Metropolitan Area and has a population of 45,370. Lisburn only recently gained its status of city in 2002, as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden jubilee celebrations. It’s currently one of the main cities in Northern Ireland for shopping, and its city centre houses many stores and restaurants. The city is known as the birthplace of Ireland’s linen industry, and the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum is the ideal place to learn more about its history.
